From Magic Lantern to Movieplex

Year 4 to Year 10
Magic Lantern
 This program will cover the history of motion picture technology. It will include real, working examples of original motion picture technology which the students can use, including:
  • Magic Lantern Projector
  • Thaumotrope
  • Phenakistoscope
  • Zoetrope
  • Mutoscope (What The Butler Saw)
  • Kinetoscope
  • Motion picture film
  • and more.
Then students can construct an 1890s Magic Lantern Projector (with real lenses) that shows images on a screen, to keep. They can use it to project their own pictures or slides. They can use it to project their iPhone or iPod on to a screen.
