Students
are introduced to the structure of the eye, and the nature of white
light and its spectrum. Colour vision, colour blindness and colour after-images are then investigated. Colour addition (RGB) is demonstrated. The spectacular colours produced by crossed polarizing filters are used to illustrate the study of materials under stress. Colours produced by filters, prisms, diffraction gratings, spectroscopes, Benham's disc, and chromatography are included. Students will also make a diffraction grating spectroscope to keep. |
